It's been years since I took the train as part of my commute to work. As I was trying to find a few spare moments to read (professional/work related) book last night, it occurred to me what a blessing the commute in Chicago had been. Each day I spent at least 30 minutes (each direction) with nothing to do but listen to music, read, or simply decompress. Forced down time. It was both productive time, if I wanted it to be, but I think it also ensured some "mental health". Of course, hind-sight is 20/20, what seemed like a dreaded commute is something I recall quite fondly now.
